Erectile dysfunction medications took in Glengormley

8 April 2011

Large quantities of unlicensed medications have been seized by Department of Health officials during a search of a house in Glengormley.

A man was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and consequently supplying unlicensed impotence medicines via the web.

The 47-year-old was likewise questioned about other medicine offenses.

He will now be the topic of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, stated: "It is essential that we get the message across that unlicensed medications can be harmful.

"These types of items being sold, usually online, have gone through no quality control and there can be no assurance about their security.

"You just do not know what you are taking or the conditions these items were made in. More notably, you do not understand the result drugs like this may have on your health."
