The Middle East is a region where vehicle is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little incentive to find more environmentally-friendly ways of walking around.
But this year, as demonstrations across the Middle East have actually risen the price of oil, the problem of discovering alternative sources of fuel has come into sharp focus.
In an area that has one of the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one business is taking benefit of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
